Healing your skin from sun damage can be no easy process. Yes, you can opt for hidden solutions, quick fixes from your fridge, or even natural remedies, but the best way to go about it is to prevent a sunburn in the first place. That’s where L’Oréal’s new La Roche-Posay My Skin Track UV comes in.
The battery-free wearable, which is now available at apple.com and at Apple Store locations throughout the U.S., is made to specifically measure your exposure to harmful ultraviolet (UV) rays. The little unit attaches to your top (or your bag while at the beach), and can track UVA and UVB ray exposure, giving you real-time updates via the accompanying app.
“Our research has long indicated the need for better consumer understanding of personal UV exposure,” said Guive Balooch, Global Vice President and Head of L’Oréal’s Technology Incubator, in a release. “We created this battery-free sensor to seamlessly integrate into the lives, and daily routines, of those using it.”

The solar-powered unit is waterproof and can also measure the humidity, pollution, air quality, and pollen levels of your area, and can sync up with Apple’s HealthKit.
“The research that went into the development of this technology indicated that wearables have the power to inspire true behavioral change by helping people measure and understand their exposure to various environmental aggressors and take action,” Laetitia Toupet, Global General Manager of La Roche-Posay said.
In fact, the $60 clip-on is not meant for just your beach trips or your summer vacations. It can, and is recommended to, be worn on your winter adventures, and also every day, giving you constant updates on the status and health of your skin. We could all use nice little reminder to take care of our skin — and make sure we’re limiting our exposure to the toxins that surround us.
