Yogis, rejoice—Nike has just debuted the brand’s first-ever yoga-specific collection and it’s everything you’ve been waiting for and more. Although you might’ve spotted many of Nike’s high-tech styles in the studio (their seamless pieces are perfect for practice), this is the first time the sportswear giant has ever dropped a collection dedicated entirely to yoga. Including apparel pieces for both men and women, the yoga capsule is designed to offer ease of movement, versatility and support for whatever your yoga style is (not going to lie, Savasana sounds like a treat right about now!).
In true Nike style, the pieces are crafted with the brand’s signature technology including sweat-wicking fabrics and innovative constructions to ensure they go the distance and remain a core part of your activewear wardrobe for years to come.
To kick off the collection, Nike released a campaign with top athletes, all who highlighted that yoga is the “secret weapon” to optimal performance. WNBA Player, Alana Beard, states; “In order to be a great defender in the WNBA, you must be able to move your hips well. Practicing yoga has had a direct correlation to the way I play defense on the court because of the hip mobility and flexibility I have grained from the triangle pose.”
“Yoga’s seated fold is very similar to the position you need to be in to land a long jump — legs straight, arms out fully, your chest almost meeting your quads. To have that kind of flexibility is tremendous. And I believe a lot of people think running is just all legs and arms, but it’s really important to engage your core and have good mechanics, which is so much of what yoga is about and why it translates to sprinting.” — U.S. Paralympian Track & Field Athlete, Scout Bassett
To equip you with all the tools you need to get your downward dog on, alongside the new apparel line, the Nike TrainingApp has also debuted a new collection of yoga workouts. The ‘Enhance Your Training With Yoga’ workouts are grouped together on the app based on specific goals including strength, stability, endurance and flexibility, developed to take your training to the next level.
The Nike Yoga collection is already available online at nike.com and in stores, so be sure to check it out!
