Every Stylish Bedroom Has This One IKEA Item

It's cheap but doesn't look it.

Our style guru, Carrie Bradshaw has given us a lot of words to live by:
“Who am I to judge anyone? I had bangs in the 80s.”
“A squirrel is just a rat with a cuter outfit.”
“Let’s gossip to get our heart rates up.”
And one of our personal favourites, “I like my money where I can see it: hanging in my closet.”
But it seems we’re not the only fans of Carrie Bradshaw. Interior designers and style bloggers have taken a leaf out of her book, hanging their clothes in plain view. It seems, what indoor plants are to the living room, the open clothes rack has become to the bedroom; a must-have for a stylish home.
It makes sense, really. As fashion-obsessed women, we spend a large portion (read: most) of our paycheck on clothing and accessories. We buy dazzling earringsfrilly dresses, and vintage jeans, and use them to decorate ourselves so why not our homes, too?
While Carrie was lucky enough to have a walk-in wardrobe built by Mr Big, for the rest of us—still waiting for our partner to kick into gear—we’ll have to rely on the chic, yet affordable clothes rack (the IKEA MULIG is AUD$9.99). It’s the trending furniture item for a pin-worthy boudoir. Not only is it an easy way to add personality to your room, it’s also a great storage hack that’ll save you heaps of time.
“Over the course of her lifetime, the average woman will spend nearly one whole year choosing outfits to wear! We all waste far too much time standing in front of our wardrobes trying to assemble outfits when the fact is we usually wear the same 20% of our clothes on a day-to-day basis,” says interior designer, Mia Lake. “And although you might not have as much room as a wardrobe, [using an open rack] also forces you to ban clutter and focus on quality over quantity.”
Treat your clothes like artwork and hang your most prized possessions. Ready to get started? Here are Mia Lake’s five tips for nailing the trend.
