For many of us, the commute to and from work is the most dreaded part of the day. Between aggressive drivers, stinky bus-goers and the struggle to get a seat, there’s usually not a whole lot to look forward to. Plus, it always feels like you could be doing so much more with the time, like squeezing in a spin class.
The good news is, spinning on your way to work could soon be a reality if you happen to live in London. Fitness studio 1Rebel plan to launch a fleet of exercise buses called Ride 2 Rebel by the end of this year. If approved by the local government, the company will turn regular commuter buses into mobile spin studios with stationary bikes and flashing lights. Talk about killing two birds with one stone!
How it works
The buses will travel through popular commuter routes and pick up and drop off at four different locations. Currently, the studio plans to charge between 12 to 15 pounds (around AU$20-$25) for each 45-minute session.
For those who want the components of a class but perhaps don’t have the time to commit during the day, this provides a great solution for them to maximise time they would otherwise be spending just travelling to work.

Basically, no more room for excuses about not having time to work out. This isn’t the first time 1Rebel have taken a slightly unconventional approach to fitness. In fact, the chain prides itself on being the ultimate anti-gym. The pay-as-you-go studios look more like underground nightclubs than your typical Fitness First and each spin or ‘Reshape’ class is accompanied by live music.
As for working out on your way to work here in Australia? For now, we’ll have to settle for smashing out a spin class before our commute until something similar pops up on local soil.
