7 Sydney Fitness Studios You NEED To Visit Next Year

Looking for somewhere new to work out in 2017?

Here in Sydney, a new fitness studio seems to pop up every week. It’s great for the fit folk who like to shake up their workout regimes and keep things interesting. In 2017, there will no doubt be a new flock of studios that will give us fresh and exciting ways to get our sweat on. But there’s been a few in particular this year that we’ll definitely be visiting over and over again. Not only did we love trying out their classes, you guys loved reading about them! So, in case you need a refresher — here are our 7 favourite Sydney studios of 2016.

 The Indigo Project

The Indigo Project isn’t technically a fitness studio — it’s so much more. The Surry Hills-based mindfulness studio offers meditation, yoga, psychology services, workshops, courses, events and retreats. As founder and head psychologist Mary Hoang says, it’s a space designed to help people ‘get their sh*t together.’ But perhaps the most exciting and innovative offering at this cute, sun-drenched studio is NapTime! It’s a 30-minute class that starts and ends with a guided meditation but mainly involves having a power-snooze in the middle of your working day. Yes, please!

Speedo Fitness Club

For many people, 24/7 gyms are a great way to ensure they fit a workout into their busy schedules. But let’s face it, they tend to be a bit on the basic, no frills side when it comes to their decor. That is, unless they’re the new Speedo Fitness Club at Bondi Beach! Originally known as Gold’s Gym, the beachside studio is decked out with stunning modern interiors. Then, there’s the heated lap pool, state-of-the-art fitness equipment and diverse range of indoor and outdoor group classes. Yep, it’s such a cool space, you’ll actually want to hang out there 24/7!

Luxe Yoga

The name of this Northern Beaches boutique fitness studio says it all! Decked out with gorgeous, minimalistic interiors, a coffee lounge and even a retail store, you’ll feel more like you’re in a 5-star hotel than a yoga studio. With more than 70 weekly classes, Luxe Yoga offers everything from power flow and Pilates to spin and cardio Barre. They even have hip-hop yoga, aerial yoga and Broga (yoga for dudes!).Yep, it’s safe to say there’s something for everyone at this chic studio.

Flow Athletic

If you’re anything like me, your preference in workouts probably changes on a day-to-day basis. Some days I feel like lifting weights, other days I prefer to speed it up with some intense cardio or slow it down with yoga. However, there aren’t many studios that actually allow you to mix it up depending on what you feel like doing. That’s why we love Flow Athletic in Paddington. The hybrid studio offers the variety of a chain gym, but in a boutique environment. Specialising in offering a balanced fitness experience, they offer a fun and challenging range of yoga, spin and strength training classes.

KX Pilates

Here at Amodrn, we love pilates. From improved flexibility, toned arms and a rock-solid core, the benefits are endless. But those benefits are best experienced when classes aren’t too crowded and the instructor can give you individual attention. That’s why we were so impressed with the new KX Pilates studio in Mosman. With only 10 reformer machines, the boutique studio allows you to complete your workout in an intimate environment. The gorgeous, bright studio, high-energy instructors and awesome soundtrack (think Madonna and Lady Gaga) just made us love it even more!

CREW

There’s no denying that rowing is one of the most efficient full-body exercises out there. In fact, research shows that it works a whopping 86% of your muscle mass! But unless you’re kayaking on a beautiful lake, let’s face it — it can get pretty boring and monotonous. Sometimes, you need to be in a class environment to amp yourself up and keep going. And if you happen to work or live near the Sydney CBD, we’ve got just the place to do it! Boutique rowing studio CREW offers 45-minute classes combining intervals on hand-crafted water rowers with H.I.I.T interval training. So, before you even get a chance to get bored of the rower, you’ll be back on the ground doing burpees and squat jumps!

YogaBar

We’ll admit it, we’re suckers for any fitness studio that features an awesome healthy cafe and sells activewear. But there’s so much more to love about Sydney-based boutique studio, YogaBar. With locations in Bondi Beach, Five Dock and the CBD, the studio has an awesome timetable packed with yoga, barre and pilates classes. The studios have a really cool, luxe feel to them, so you’ll actually feel more inclined to go to the YogaBar than a regular bar when Friday afternoon rolls around!
