To say millennials are a little obsessed with rose gold would be a massive understatement. Ever since the metallic shade hit the scene, we’ve been wearing it in everything from our tech gadgets and sneakers to our makeup and jewellery. And given that other metallic hair trends have been huge lately (opal and copper ombre, anyone?) it was only a matter of time before we started rocking rose gold in our hair, too. Lo and behold, the rose gold hair trend is here!
Not only have we seen the rose gold hair look everywhere on Insta and Pinterest lately, but celebs like Kimmy K, Bella Hadid, Hailey Baldwin and Hilary Duff have been giving the dreamy shade a go. With copper undertones, rose gold is a more subtle alternative for those who want to give pink hair a go but don’t want to be too extra about it.
The best thing about this hair trend is how versatile it is.
You could unleash your inner unicorn with a top-to-bottom rose gold look
Or mix it up with rose gold tips, like Bella Hadid
You could do a rose gold pixie cut
Or try a rose gold ombre
Even brunettes can get on the rose gold bandwagon without having to bleach their hair to smithereens. There’s an alternative, rose brown, which has more of a brunette base with peachy highlights.
Yep, this is one gorgeous hair look everyone can rock. That said, it’s obviously not a one-size-fits-all approach and as the shade isn’t exactly mainstream in most salons yet, it’s not as simple as walking in and asking your hairstylist for rose gold or brown. “You would think asking for a rose gold hair colour, would be straight forward, but it can get quite tricky finding the best hue to suit you so I suggest taking a picture, or even creating your own personal mood board from Pinterest and Instagram to direct your colourist,” says Daniel Palmer, Color Director at Taylor Taylor London.
