If you’re based in the US and been itching to break away from the cooler winter temperatures and are in search for your ultimate spring break destination, look no more. Kayak has just released its list of “top trending 2019 Spring Break destinations by state” and there’s one city that takes the prize for the most popular vacation spot.
“A whopping 30 of the 50 states (31 if you count Washington, DC) show a dramatic increase in 2019 Spring Break searches to San Juan, Puerto Rico,” the Kayak report notes. “With a 115% search increase compared to 2018, it’s clear San Juan is making a comeback.”
Not only is San Juan’s tourism back on track following the devastation brought on by Hurricane Maria in 2017, it’s also very easily accessible from the continental United States.
You can catch daily nonstop flights — from both Florida and Maryland — to check out the beaches, nightlife, museums, and history on the island. Whether you’re a beach or a city vacationer, the city has it all, in spades.
But if a more close-by destination is more your style, Florida still reigns supreme when it comes to spring break on the mainland U.S. Orlando, Tampa, Fort Lauderdale, and Miami all make the list, so you’ll have plenty of travel options to choose from if a trip to the Sunshine State is your goal.
If you’d prefer to head more out west, Hawaii is noted as being one of the top spots, with Honolulu and Maui being the go-to cities. If you’re looking to leave the U.S. for your getaway, Kayak has also European cities that might just pique your interest.
Among the top European destinations are London, Madrid, and Rome, all which can be easily accessed from the East Coast, and are a quick flight away for those who want a more international experience.
If spring break is still on your mind, and you’re ready to head out with girlfriends, solo, or your partner (here’s how you know you’re ready for that!), take the time off, book the flights, and get away.
