Last spring, while the world was forced to shut down amid the COVID-19 pandemic chaos, new self-care concept, Hydra Studios took that pause as a positive sign to regroup and rethink their soon-to-launch wellness studio. Everything, from their operations, gym, fit-out and exercise concept had been redesigned to align with a new post-pandemic world.
Introducing Hydra Studios, a private and safe self-care destination with COVID-19 considerations built into its DNA.

Founded by former Goldman Sachs colleagues Marie Kloor and Dan Nielsen, the concept for Hydra Studios was inspired by Kloor’s use of the firm’s upscale gym locker room as a “second home base, a hub between my work, social, and fitness lives.” Recognizing that access to these types of amenities was generally limited to employees of large companies, she saw an opportunity to create a new platform for a broader client base.
The new space seamlessly combines the highest standards of luxury and cleanliness, featuring private suites or pods that clients can reserve for fitness — including the likes of Peloton, MIRROR workout system, TRX, mats and light weights — meditation, or simply a quiet place to recharge. Each pod is cleaned before and after each session and outfitted with HEPA air filters; since the redesign, the wellness studio has a newly upgraded hospital-grade ventilation system and antimicrobial surfaces, with common area touchpoints eliminated where possible.

In doing so, we aimed to set a new industry standard for fitness and wellness post-COVID said Hydra Studios co-founder Marie Kloor, who serves as the company’s CEO
Step inside their well-appointed locker rooms and you’ll be immediately met with feel-good features such as rainfall showers, steam rooms, infrared sauna, vanity stations, and highly coveted products from their brand partners such as Brooklinen, Verb, Blind Barber, beauty brand Malin + Goetz, Way of Will, and Seed. Whilst outside the studio’s experiential retail area offers a vast selection of predominantly sustainable products from female-founded companies.

However, for those who are still a little cautious in stepping outside — we don’t blame you, Hydra Studio also offers a vast library of on-demand custom classes that are led by renowned world-class trainers. You can stream their classes straight to your device in the comfort of your own home.
Whilst the 2021 horizon does look set to become a promising year, it’s comforting to know that businesses like these are making the safety and wellbeing of their customers their No. 1 priority — and we can’t thank them enough for pivoting in such a fickle and volatile market. So with that in mind, I think it’s safe to say that this new fitness concept just may be the way of the future!
