Attention New Yorkers! West Coast-based yoga giant Alo Yoga has finally found its home in New York City’s SoHo neighborhood and their airy and light-filled sanctuary will have you improving your practice and your mindfulness.
Located on the corner of Spring and Mercer (and 96 Spring Street, if you want to pop that directly into your GPS), the two-story location is also their biggest store to-date, filled with all of the yoga and athleisure gear you want, a 100 percent organic cafe complete with Stumptown coffee, kombucha on tap, and all the matcha your heart may desire, as well as a yoga studio that fits 70 (natch), and a community space where you can take in all of the serenity of the store in one of New York City’s busiest neighborhoods.
“We set out to design a space that, like our other stores, brings people together, inspires health and wellness and encourages more people to get on the mat more often,” the company announced. “Because we’re passionate about spreading the practice of yoga and truly believe in its power to change the world. This is why we call our stores sanctuaries! Our new Soho flagship is an oasis—your oasis—in the heart of busy Manhattan, so come by to shop or just hang out and chat with some awesome people.”
Beginning this week, the yoga studio has begun offering classes (available on MINDBODY), and stay tuned because an exclusive Body by Simone class will be making its way to the space and schedule very soon.
The company, which first launched in Los Angeles in 2007, was all about bringing comfortable and contemporary gear from yogis to yogis.
“Inspiring mindful movement is at the core of why we do what we do at Alo—it’s our calling,” the company has noted. “Because mindful movement leads to better living. This is the real meaning of studio-to-street: Taking the consciousness from practice on the mat and putting it into the practice of life.”
And now, with 35 hours of yoga to practice a week in the studio, and 38 styles of yoga pants to don while you’re doing it, you have a brand new haven to head to when you need a time out from the constant “go” that is New York City.
Featuring an oasis that’ll make you forget you’re in the heart of wild and bustling Manhattan, the 15,000-square foot space will give you the chic and relaxed California vibes as soon as you step foot inside.
