Chances are, if you already love Tory Burch’s eponymous collection, you’re going to be even more obsessed with the sport-chic sister, Tory Sport. Featuring contemporary basics, cool silhouettes and on-trend colour-blocking prints, the versatile range is a shoo-in to make you best dressed at the gym (or country club) and local café.
And now after a successful pop-up store during Fashion Week last year, Tory Sport has just opened its first official brick-and-mortar store this week in New York City.
Nestled in the heart of the Flatiron District, the 5,000-square-foot store is everything you would expect from the classic American designer. We’re talking a stylish hybrid of Hamptons-inspired ‘70s surf lodge, with minimalistic Scandinavian touches.
Throughout the space, you’ll find the complete Tory Sport collection, including high-performance clothing in sport-friendly fabrics, fitted jackets and blazers with coordinating t-shirts gym bags, shoes, and accessories. While the focus is on tennis, swimming and gold gear, there is something to suit every taste.
“I’ve wanted to create a sport line for a long time,” Burch told Forbes. “We’ve been working on it for close to three years. I found that I kept wearing my sports clothes from high school and college, and I was intrigued by the concept of the elegance of sport – how we look at athletes, and the elegance behind them, because they are elegant.”
“Women are wearing leggings and a great blazer to lunch. We wanted to give them options of looking chic while doing that,” Burch continued.
While this is great news for New Yorkers, it’s not so great for those of us Down Under. But don’t fret, the current collection just launched online as well.
