Perched by the water in the inner-city Sydney suburb of Woolloomooloo is Ovolo, a popular boutique hotel that somehow mergers modern quirkiness with urban, warehouse grunge and pulls it off in spectacular style. But if you think that’s impressive, Ovolo is also home to Alibi, Sydney’s latest cocktail destination, offering a 100% plant-based dining menu.
Following the success of their ‘clean’ offering—which showcases an entirely vegan dining menu spearheaded by head chef, Jordan Brogan and Ovolo’s Creative Culinary Partner, US plant-based chef, restaurateur and global plant-based dining pioneer, Matthew Kenney—Alibi is now rolling out an all-new plant-based (vegan) bar menu by the name of ‘Dirty Greens’.
Inspired by the hands-on, greasy, finger-licking-good favourites we all need sometimes, Alibi’s head chef, Jordan Brogan brings diners and boozers the all-new, all-vegan Dirty Greens bar menu featuring a selection of dirty-but-clean snacks and meals.
Think along the lines of Mac ‘n’ Cheese balls made from a mix of house-made vegan cheeses and creams, tacos and Bao Buns using pulled jackfruit in place of pork. Jackfruit is again used in the sweeter and stickier menu item of Peking D**k Pancakes. The more diner-classic menu inclusions of the Alibi Hotdog and the big and juicy Beyond Burger use a clever combination of plant and pea protein.
In addition to this, Alibi boasts an extensive and sustainably focused wine list and theatrical cocktails made from a selection of fruits, vegetables and botanicals, shaken and stirred with molecular techniques and spectacular presentation to stand out within a sea of greens to sip alongside your dirty eats.
Alibi Bar’s Dirty Green menu is available from 11am till late.
Location: Ovolo Woolloomooloo, 6 Cowper Wharf Roadway, Woolloomooloo 2011.
