Chinese New Year: What the Year of the Dog Means for You

Here's what you can expect this Chinese New Year

It seems like Christmas and New Year’s were just here, but now it’s time to prepare for the next big transitional holiday. Friday, February 16th marks the start of the Chinese New Year, and the beginning of the Year of the Dog.
According to The Chinese Zodiac, the word that will best describe the upcoming lunar year is simply: action.
If you were born during the years 1934, 1946, 1958, 1970, 1982, 1994, 2006, or 2018, you’re a Dog!

Here’s what you can expect this Chinese New Year:

1. Embrace the now

According to the Zodiac, “planning, postponing, and negligence are words you need to remove from your vocabulary during this year.”
That means taking action, jumping on opportunities, and not pushing back what you can do today to tomorrow are just a couple of the tenants you should live by for this year… and every other year.

2. Prepare for a love life boost

“From the 2018 Chinese New Year onwards, the meaning and importance of family are critical to the realization of the aspirations of all 12 of the Chinese zodiac signs,” Karma Weather notes. “If you happen to be single during this yearly cycle, you shouldn’t have trouble finding a partner before the next Chinese New Year of 2019.”
Hear that? The romance department is about to get a serious upgrade.

3. Selflessness and kindness will take center stage

“The Dog is an ethical and idealistic sign, and the year that bears its name will also bring increased social awareness and interest in society’s less powerful members,” the Astrology Club says. “Any tendencies to take, take, take will be replaced by a widespread sentiment of generosity and selflessness. In general, we will all be imbued with the Dog’s keen sense of right and wrong.”
That means personal sacrifice, kindness to others, and general mindfulness toward the planet will all be main focuses.

4. It’ll be a year of health

“In the year of the dog, all zodiac signs will want to pay attention to their health,” they advice. “Year 2018 is the ideal time to start eating healthy, doing sports, and getting rid of old habits.”
Time to Marie Kondo everything in life, doesn’t it?
“According to the Chinese horoscope 2018, the Year of the Earth Dog 2018 is a good time for lifestyle changes (time to quit smoking or change residence) and for the start of new business ventures,” reports Karma Weather.
Make 2018 the year you start on your wellness journey, complete with workout plans, ditching bad habits, and revamping your eating plan.
