If there’s one thing Melbourne is known for, it’s delicious food. From the cafe-lined laneways to the up-market eateries along the Yarra River, it’s never hard to find a bite to eat in the culinary hot spot. But with so many amazing places to stuff your face, squeezing into your skinny jeans can become a bit of a mission. Luckily, there are also plenty of awesome places to work out in Victoria’s capital city! Whether you’re a full-time Melbournite or are just visiting, there’s no shortage of fitness studios where you can get your sweat on. Here are some of our favourites we’ve written about this year.
Happy Melon
When you first walk into this holistic wellness space, you’d be forgiven for thinking it was a stylish salon. There are chic homewares and relaxed vibes a-plenty, but the studio isn’t just there to look pretty. Not only does Happy Melon offer pilates and yoga classes, there are also four different types of meditation classes. Whether you want to move your body or be still, it’s the perfect place to get zen.

Saltwater Yoga
One of our favourite things about yoga is that you can do it pretty much anywhere. But, it makes it a tiny bit nicer practising at a stunning studio like Saltwater Yoga. The Williamstown studio fuses ancient practices with the latest in sports science and psychology to create a well-rounded yoga experience.

Better Being
Sometimes to stay motivated to work out, you just need someone to tell you what to do. That’s why we love Better Being! Created by PT extraordinaire Greg Stark, the studios provide you with the ultimate personal training experience. Each client is partnered with their own personal trainer to keep them accountable. The studios feature an extensive range of state-of-the-art weight and cardio equipment, luxurious spa facilities, a lap pool and even complimentary parking! But if you can’t make it to one of the gyms, don’t sweat it — the PTs will work around your schedule and train you wherever is convenient.

r.a.w studios
Yoga, barre, dance, martial arts, functional training, meditation, workshops — is there anything this boutique fitness studio doesn’t offer? Oh, and we haven’t even mentioned the pampering sessions from Organika Hair and in-house member’s lounge where you can enjoy Japanese cuisine, Izakaya Den. Then, there’s the luxe modern interiors and their team of inspiring experts! Their name stands for ‘ready and willing’ which is quite fitting: because I’m ready to sign up and I don’t even live in Melbourne!
