What do you look for in a yoga studio? Is it experienced teachers who are passionate without being preachy? A supportive community? Beautiful, minimalist interiors that make you feel more relaxed the second you walk in?
Given that NYC’s Sky Ting Yoga has all that and more, it’s hardly surprising that they’ve recently had to open a second location just to keep up with the demand. The studio has been a firm favourite with city-dwelling yogis ever since owners Chloe Kernaghan and Krissy Jones opened the doors in 2015.
Their new home is a sprawling 3,500 square feet studio in an old factory building in Tribeca. There’s a large classroom that holds up to 55, a smaller room for specialty workshops and training, a private instructing room and four (!!!) bathrooms. But that’s not all. The new space also features an infrared sauna and a lounge where yogis can chill out after class and enjoy coconut smoothies and healthy treats from Smile 2 Go. There’s also beauty offerings from some of our faves, like Moon Juice, CAP Beauty and Benshen — so you can beautify after your class.
We’re still pushing our original mission, which is for Sky Ting to be community-driven and a place where people will want to stay, hang out, and do work after their practice. We want to recast yoga as not just a place to come to your mat, but bringing joy to other aspects of your life across the board.

They’ve also expanded their schedule with restorative classes (which Kernaghan notes is very important for New Yorkers) and have plans to add pre and post-natal yoga and classes for kids. Keen to check it out for yourself? Here are the deets.
