Did you know that you could have a gut type? We didn’t either. Apparently, it’s a thing! While it does make sense that even our gut would have a default state of imbalance, nutritionists and health coaches alike are making the case for a distinct gut type. Our gut is so connected to everything we do. The way we think, the way we eat, and the way we stress out about things all come back to our digestive system. And what does a gut type that doesn’t really feel too good all come back to?

That’s right, our body’s favorite way of stress is inflammation. By now, you probably know that inflammation is the root cause of a lot of diseases. We’ve done some research to find out what the five gut types are and how you can better help reset your digestive system by finding out which one you are. What gut type do you think you are? Keep reading for more!

What’s Your Gut Type?

1) The Digestive Gut

The Digestive Gut, according to MBG, has the most overt digestive problems and gut-related symptoms like constipation, bloating, loose or hard stool, IBS, and more. These types feel health imbalances directly in the gut. What causes your gut to behave in this way is eating the same foods, lack of fresh air, eating out a lot, and sleep deprivation, to name a few. You also probably don’t have the healthy poop either!

2) Immune Gut

This type of gut is the kind that experiences more immune-related symptoms when their gut is feeling off. If you have this type of gut, you may experience skin breakouts, autoimmune conditions, allergies, asthma, food intolerances, and frequent illness.

3) Toxic Gut

This type of gut is one that seems to not be helped by doing all of the regular things you can do to help your gut. You may have many food sensitivities, chemical sensitivities, constant viral and bacterial infections, vertigo, and more. This type of gut has often tried everything to resolve its issues and has high levels of inflammation. For this type of gut, we recommend seeing a specialist as soon as you can.

4) Hormonal Gut

This type of gut gets out of wack when you feel like your hormones are going haywire. Some signs may be unwanted weight gain, blood sugar imbalances, PMS, PCOS, insomnia, an irregular period, and more. You may also have digestive issues. For this type, hormonal balance is key in solving gut and health issues.

5) Brain-Gut

This type of gut experiences anxiety, depression, ADHD, headaches, migraines, and more. This is the mental stress that can cause your body to feel an imbalance in your nervous system. If you experience bloating, you may have this type of gut as it slows mobility. And bloating can have such an impact on your physical and mental health and well-being. We’re probably this type of gut, we think.

What to Do for Most Gut Types

If you’re feeling like your gut is imbalanced and you want to see what you can do to try and feel better, we recommend that you start with taking probiotics and prebiotics, like this combo supplement from Bioptimizers. It’s a probiotic that improves your immune system and promotes a healthy gut.

Otherwise, definitely start to get your greens in on the daily, work out and exercise regularly, and meditate. If none of this is working and you think you have a toxic gut or an issue that needs resolving, see a doctor or specialist immediately.
