Praise-be to no longer having to spend your Friday nights pouring over Uber Eats for a takeout joint that will serve your plant-based proclivities and your bae’s hankering for some dairy-smothered dough.
Domino’s Pizza just introduced vegan cheese to their menu down under and it might just be the best thing that has happened in 2018 so far (OK, second. Oprah’s Golden Globes speech was pretty epic).
With veganism becoming increasingly mainstream and with the number of people participating in Veganuary at an all-time high, this pizza-powerhouse has timed their foray into plant-based options to perfection.
“The popularity of, and demand for, vegan products has increased considerably over the years so it’s great we are now able to offer this,” said Domino’s Australia and New Zealand CEO Nick Knight in a statement.
“We have tested this cheese in our LuvLab development kitchen, and confirmed this vegan-friendly alternative has the same taste, texture and melt as real dairy cheese. It’s also cholesterol free, making it the perfect, healthy indulgence.”
And three clearly isn’t a crowd because that’s how many vegan options the Domino’s Pizza gods have blessed the menu with. The Vegan Avocado Veg, the Vegan Spicy Trio and the Vegan Margherita are officially all yours for the taking, and the addition of their high-qual, non-GMO, preservative-free vegan cheese to any pizza will set you back a measly $2.95.
You feta believe that this has been one of the biggest victories that vegan pizza lovers have had since Crust Pizza added a smokey jackfruit option to their menu. The gratest, in fact.
Pah. Was that last line too cheesy? (OMG fine, we’ll stop.)
The vegan cheeze (that’s how the vegans spell it) is melting, and unless customers buy it enough, it’ll be gone. Yep, it’s available for a limited time only. If the demand is there, it’ll become a staple.
So what are you waiting for people? Order the pizza…
Try your hand at making your own vegan cheese with these three recipes.
