Anyone who has spoken to me for more than 5 minutes will know that I’m OBSESSED with pizza. It’s at the point where it’s become one of my defining features — I get tagged in a pizza-related meme at least once a day and my loved ones joke that I will name my firstborn child Azzip (pizza backwards).
That said, even I have to draw the line at eating pizza for breakfast. There’s just something too ‘teenage stoner who most definitely doesn’t have their life together’ about it for me. However, it would appear that I’m guilty of doing something much worse (on occasion) — starting my day with cereal. Yep, according to NYC-based nutritionist, Chelsey Amer, pizza is a better breakfast option than most cereals.
You may be surprised to find out that an average slice of pizza and a bowl of cereal with whole milk contain nearly the same amount of calories. However, pizza packs a much larger protein punch, which will keep you full and boost satiety throughout the morning. Plus, a slice of pizza contains more fat and much less sugar than most cold cereals, so you will not experience a quick sugar crash.

But if you heat up your leftover pizza for breakfast every now and again, it’s not going to kill you. Want some breakfast ideas that actually are healthy?
