Fact: Everything tastes better with Nutella drizzled on it. Pancakes, icecream, toast, doughnuts…the list goes on. It’s surprising, then, that nobody has created an entire cafe dedicated to the delicious choc-hazelnut spread. Sure, there’s been pop-ups and cafes with Nutella-themed items on the menu. But somehow, there’s been no official Nutella Cafe… until now.
Yes, the doors to the very first official Nutella Cafe opened its doors in Chicago last week. We know, we’re super jealous too.
Not only will the cafe serve up chocolately delights like Nutella crepes, crossiants and waffles, it’s even designed to look like a Nutella jar. Think creamy white walls, chocolate-coloured accents ‘dripping’ from the ceiling and red everywhere. It’s open for breakfast, lunch and dinner — so you can pop in any time of day for your chocolate fuel.
Not in the mood for something sweet? Well, I’d love to tell you you’re in the wrong place but there are savoury options like soups and paninis. But really, how could you go savoury when there’s options like Liege waffles on the menu — caramelised brioche and pearl sugar waffles served with fruit compote, Nutella, and hazelnuts. Our mouths are watering just thinking about it!
The two-story cafe is located Chicago’s Millennium Park Plaza on Michigan Ave. As for when the rest of the world will get a Nutella-themed cafe? There’s no word yet, so we’ll have to stick to the nutella-filled doughnuts at Tella Balls for now . Or, you know, you could always use it as an opportunity to book that trip to Chicago you’ve been meaning to take!
