We spoke to Bianca Cheah, our founder and creator of They Call Her Alfie, about why it’s important to do a little investigating into your CBD skincare products before purchasing. She’s built a CBD empire, worked with scientists to develop her skincare line, and put her experience to work when it comes to They Call Her Alfie. Keep reading below for her bottom line when it comes to choosing a CBD skincare product as well as our favorite serums and lotions to use.
Why is the potency of CBD important in skincare?
Like most key actives there are limits to how much your dermis can take advantage of. This changes from person to person and users should be more mindful of the quality of the actives- more is not always better.
What’s the ideal CBD type to have incorporated into your skincare?
We opted to use isolate because it is the purest form of CBD and doesn’t contain any THC. Users should understand that brands that use a broad spectrum in their product will contain other terpenes and that full-spectrum will contain some levels of THC.
Tell us about Alfie’s transdermal technology?
The basis for the unique properties of BSX 8.1 is an Iontophoretic effect on the on biological tissue creating temporary changes in mucosal tissue and the stratum corneum thereby enhancing molecular access. Essentially, the technology is able to deliver the key actives through the dermis more effectively than other products resulting in greater bioavailability.
How do you think brands are getting the combo of CBD and skincare wrong?
The largest problem in the market at the moment is brands making false product claims- users need to check the ingredients to make sure that they are getting what they have paid for or if they’re not happy, ask to return the product.
