We don’t know about you, but our skin just went through a major transition. It’s dry, cracked, and completely not working with our former routine. We need to switch things up ASAP. Redness is one of the most ubiquitous skin concerns year-round. However, with plummeting temperatures, and fluctuating ones–from freezing streets to overheated offices to radiator-dry apartments–winter brings its own particular challenges for those of us with already sensitive skin.
We have some suggestions to help you out this winter. Below, you’ll find everything from gentle pH-balancing cleansers to color-correcting primers for those suffering from redness, irritation, and rosacea. Keep reading below for some of our favorite ways to get through!

1) Gently cleanse with a pH balancing cleanser

Calm your skin and get it in perfect pH balance for the day with Balancing Cleanser. Rich in Vitamin E and Aloe Vera, this rich and creamy cleanser repairs the skin’s acid mantle and will not strip its natural oils. Also, we love this one from Alpha-H Balancing Cleanser ($44). Redness-alleviating ingredients include Vitamin E & aloe vera.
Wash away the day’s grime and irritants with a double cleanse using Balancing Cleanser. The first application will remove any dirt, bacteria and/or makeup, while the second ensures anything which could upset your skin is completely gone, and the second will return your skin to its optimum natural pH to help retain the integrity of the lipid barrier.

However, we have another exceptional cleansing and detoxifying care product. It’s been designed as natural pH care that cleanses, refreshes, and soothes all skin types, including sensitive skin. It has strong make-up removing power – including waterproof and eye make-up. It also helps to remove daily pollution accumulated on the skin. Orveda Cleansing Bamboo & Enzymatic Water ($95). Ingredients like redness-alleviating black tea kombucha & niacinamide are powerful enough to calm skin down.

2) Deeply hydrate with an anti-inflammatory serum and/or moisturizer

This serum from Monastery Made is incredible (Monastery Flora Botanical Cream Serum, $118). This lightweight, creamy serum is fortified with low and medium weight hyaluronic acids, plus nutrient-dense fruit and floral oils to hydrate and nourish the skin. This unique product is a melding of textures—more lightweight than your average cream, but creamier than your average serum. It’s a true multitasker—it hydrates, prevents visible signs of aging, soothes, firms, and brightens thanks to skin-nourishing acids like ximenynic acid, ellagic acid, hyaluronic acid, and phytosterols.
This serum from Alpha-H is one of our favorites (Alpha-H Vitamin B Serum, $70). However, the redness-alleviating ingredients are chia seed and niacinamide. Gently smooth a couple of drops of Vitamin B serum over your skin, avoiding the eye and lip area. Also, this silky and hydrating serum helps to heal, improve microcirculation and repair the skin’s lipid bilayers.

Another product we love is the Erborian CC Color Correcting & Redness Reducing Broad Spectrum SPF 25, ($44). CC Red Correct’s green pigments help conceal redness and imperfections while a higher concentration of Centella Asiatica than Erborian’s CC Crème, helping deliver radiance and hydration for, especially redness-prone skin tones.
