Living in LA, my mom Bianca often uses Postmates to have dinner delivered from some amazing restaurants. I have to admit, it feels a little bit ruff when she’s sitting on the couch eating her Michelin-starred sushi and I have to eat this questionable muck they call ‘dog food.’ I mean, does anyone even know what’s in that stuff? I may be a dog, but I have nutritional needs too. Have you seen all those cute female dogs on the Santa Monica pier? I need to stay in shape!
So, when something new appeared in my bowl one evening, I was intrigued. Naturally, I sniffed around for a little bit. It smelled suspiciously like human food! I later discovered that was because it IS human-grade food, from my new favourite pet food company, Ollie. That worked well for me, as I do think of myself as a mini human. I was pleased to discover that it tasted just as yummy as it smelled.
I hoped that this wasn’t going to be a one-off — that I wasn’t going to be teased with this superb meal, then have to go back to my mediocre dog food. But I was pleasantly surprised when Ollie kept coming back again and again. Turns out, it’s a food delivery service that turns up at our place each week.
My parents used the Ollie app to answer some questions about me — including my age, weight (not that it’s any of their business!) and breed. Then, the good humans at Ollie created my own custom menu based on my individual needs, delivering it weekly to our door. It’s just like having my own personal chef, which is exactly what a good boy like myself deserves.
My food arrives in sealed trays that stay fresh unopened for up to 14 days, and up to 5 days after they’re opened. If the fridge space is tight, my parents can stick it in the freezer and defrost it in the fridge a day before they serve it. My meals even come with a custom scoop to ensure my parents are giving me the exact right amount of food (which is great, because I don’t like to be short-changed.)
All of the vet-formulated recipes are made with high-quality meat from human-grade farms in the US and Australia, as well as plenty of veggies. All of the ingredients are fresh and completely free from artificial nasties. All in all, I’ve always been excited when the delivery man comes to our door, but even more so when my Ollie meals arrive. I give them two paws up!
