These Are The 10 Most Popular Wedding Songs in America

What’s a wedding without a Ed Sheeran, Bruno Mars, or John Legend song? And if you don’t sing along and dance to “Thinking Out Loud,” “Marry You,” or “All of Me,” did you really attend a reception?

Between deciding on DJ vs. band and eventually putting together a list of “must play” songs, brides-to-be know all about the pressures of the perfect playlist. After all, once you’ve selected the location of your destination wedding and it up Pinterest for the ultimate wedding inspo, creating the reception — and curating the perfect playlist — will eventually become a major to-do during the planning process.

Turns out, your wedding playlist likely has a lot in common with that of the rest of America, because Spotify’s Insights blog revealed the most popular wedding songs to The Washington Post, and color us not at all surprised.

If you’ve attended more than one wedding per year, you’ve probably found yourself comparing the DJ lineups. Chances are, there has been much overlap because the most popular songs are just what you’d expect them to be. “Thinking Out Loud,” “Marry You,” and “All of Me” make up the top three most frequently included songs on Spotify wedding playlists. Then, Bruno Mars makes another appearance on the list with “Uptown Funk,” and is joined by Whitney Houston’s “I Wanna Dance with Somebody (Who Loves Me)” to round out the top five.

Then, Journey’s “Don’t Stop Believin’,” Beyonce’s “Crazy in Love,” Christina Perri’s “A Thousand Years,” Jason Mraz’s “I’m Yours,” and OutKast’s “Hey Ya!” make up the rest of the top 10 and we’re ready to take on the dance floor just thinking about these jams.

While these songs easily topped the lists, the regional breakdowns show that we all love exactly where we came from. New Jersey weddings had to give a shoutout to the hometown hero, and Bruce Springsteen’s “Born to Run” was easily the most requested song. California shows its love to 2Pac with “California Love,” and West Virginians couldn’t end a wedding without John Denver’s “Take Me Home, Country Roads.”

Forget “Shout” or “We Are Family.” Those are long gone as the most predictable wedding reception tunes. Give us some Ed and Bruno and we’re ready to burn up that dance floor.
