When you think of sports cars, a few words probably come to mind — like stylish, sleek and luxurious. But chances are, ‘environmentally-friendly’ probably isn’t at the top of that list. But thanks to the release of the new Jaguar E-PACE, that may be about to change.
The newest member of the Jag family combines the practicality of an SUV, luxe aesthetic of a sports car and sustainability of an eco-car. Despite having the spaciousness of a large car, the compact 5-seater has implemented various technologies to ensure it’s as fuel efficient and environmentally sustainable as possible.
These include variable exhaust-valve timing, which enables rapid catalyst heating and robust particulate filter generation. Selective catalytic reduction and cooled low-pressure exhaust gas recirculation also reduce its nitrogen oxide emissions. A new Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) AdBlue™ after-treatment system makes the E-PACE even greener. The system sprays an aqueous urea DEF solution into the exhaust system, neutralising harmful gases.
For those who don’t speak ‘car’—basically, this is a vehicle you can feel good about driving. You’ll feel pretty damn safe, too, thanks to features like the agile yet controlled handling, the All Surface Progress Control—to give you confidence in slippery conditions—and Lane Keep Assist, which senses when your car is unintentionally drifting out of your lane, and gently steers you back.
Of course, there are plenty of other cool, high-tech features, too. The E-PACE is one of the most connected and intelligent vehicles in its class, with a touchscreen infotainment system that makes it super easy to connect to your favourite apps and pump tunes through the state of the art sound system. We also love the activity key wristband that allows you to lock and unlock your car — no more misplacing your car keys!
At the end of the day, we know that looks do matter when it comes to your car. Rest assured that the E-PACE is just as stylish as it is sustainable, maintaining the same sporty chic aesthetic we loved about Jaguar’s first SUV, the F-PACE.
The E-Pace is set to be released at the end of the year. You can find out more or stay updated here.
