If your morning ritual includes a warm cup of coffee (as it would do for any semi functioning human with monday-itis, or any general morning-itis in fact), then you’ll understand the importance of quality morning java. And we’ve got some good news for Brisbanites. You can now look forward to having your ritual cup of coffee at Teneriffe’s favourite local organic grocer-cum-café: Sourced Grocer.
After a fresh makeover, the one-stop-shop has doubled in size and has a plethora of organic, locally sourced produce, keeping in line with their philosophy of sustainability and a healthy lifestyle. Now you can get your favourite cup of coffee and browse through the aisles for your favourite organic foods, all in one place. Stock up on organic fruit and veg, gourmet dried food, fresh bread and flowers or grab a seat on the wooden stairs and people watch your Sunday morning away with a cappuccino.
Along with their new kitchen comes a new menu, boasting ingredients and products available in store, such as the house made buckwheat pasta with leek, creamed spinach and brown butter. Oats are rolled in store for the bircher, and organic grains from Kialla Pure Foods are milled each day to make the sourdough bread in-house. According to The Weekend Edition, the superstore also has a closed-loop organic system and on-site compositing system, aiming to minimize waste and convert into concentrated compost. We can’t help but give two green thumbs up for the sustainable inspiration and initiative on the local favourite.
The industrial chic décor of this converted warehouse still has its community vibe and relaxed feel, along with an impressive new menu that has our taste buds on high alert. We heard through the grapevine that the avocado smash and soft boiled eggs with their house milled sourdough is a breakfast must-have.
