Just when you thought summer couldn’t get any healthier, Los Angeles gives us the one thing we didn’t know we were craving: cold pressed soft serves.
Pressed Juicery Freeze is the unique (and super tasty) creation from Californian juice-makers, Pressed Juicery. This vegan, gluten and dairy-free dessert uses the juices from fruits, vegetables, almonds and coconuts. However, if you’re flinching at the idea of licking a Kale Cone, we’ve got the details on what it actually tastes like.
What’s in a cold pressed soft serve?
Low and behold, an array of strange-yet-tasty flavours await. Your tastebuds will be pleasantly surprised at what a veggie ice cream – sorry, cold pressed soft serve, can do.
Greens Freeze is your beloved celery-apple-cucumber-kale etc. combo, only with added dates and coconuts. And since we’re loco for anything coco, we fully approve. Roots Freeze, as its name suggest, involves a blend of beets, carrots, apple, lemon, ginger, dates and coconut. It seems like the latter two are the secret ingredient to making anything remotely veggie taste like a treat.
If a more traditional flavour is what you’re looking for, then Pressed Juicery definitely ticks all the right boxes. Try their Chocolate Almond freeze (made from cacao, almonds, dates and vanilla bean) or Vanilla Almond Freeze (almonds, vanilla bean, sea salt and dates).
We’re just relieved to find that our belief in ice cream as a healthy treat is finally being backed by science, or at least, the geniuses at Pressed Juicery.
Where can I get one?
The newest Pressed Juicery store just opened up in Hollywood and is offering all six variations of the soft serve. Be sure to check them out to get your veggie fix, or visit their website to find a location nearest you in California. Now, if they could just make it over to Australia, we’d be well underway into forgetting about winter.
