Newly opened paddock-to-plate eatery Blackwood Pantry should now be added to the list of supremely hip foodie destinations in Sydney. From bang-on soy lattes to fresh basil yoghurt dotted with fig, strawberry and candied pistachio, Blackwood Pantry is redefining brunch as we know it.
Spearheaded by Michelin-trained chef, Robert Lechowicz, alongside Daniel Sorridimi and Paul Pisani, Blackwood Pantry marks the dynamic trio’s first restaurant venture and we guarantee it does not disappoint.
Nestled just off Cronulla Beach on Surf Lane, the industrialist-chic eatery is French in technique, but decidedly ‘fuss-free’ and Australian in its approach with a seasonal, market focused menu, which changes regularly depending on available produce.
“I have brought my knowledge of French training – which is so structured and precise – and applied it to dishes that celebrate a paddock-to-table approach. I want people to be able to come back from the beach, dust the sand off their feet and eat great food in a place which is as elegant as it is ambient,” Lechowicz explains.
Tuck into the perfectly poached Turkish eggs with runny, amber yolks, served with yogurt, paprika and sautéed mushrooms, the vegetarian Buddha Bowl or the deconstructed French toast with Szechuan-poached peaches, ginger and white chocolate. If that isn’t enough to tantalise your taste buds, you’ll also find vanilla poached salmon as well as crispy pork belly served with roasted peaches, chimichurri, goat’s cheese and toasted ciabatta on the menu.
Coffee connoisseur’s will appreciate the ever-changing brews on offer, while a variety of freshly squeezed juices, milkshakes, beer, wine and cocktails are also available.
We’re equalled obsessed with the Luchetti Krelle designed decor, which perfectly personifies Sydney’s relaxed beachside vibe. We’re talking polished concrete floors and columns, hanging pendant lights and tin-clad wall features softened by greenery, communal (and individual) bare timber tables and soft pink accents.
So if you’re looking for a new healthy hangout (and let’s be honest, who isn’t?!), Blackwood Pantry is a must-try.
