This Luxe, Architecturally-Designed Yoga Studio Is A Must-Visit In Sydney

Move over Bondi and Surry Hills, Maroubra is where it's at.

While Bondi and Coogee tend to get all of the attention (and tourists), we would argue that the eastern suburbs Sydney beach of Maroubra could give them a run for their money. Not only is it the largest beach in the eastern suburbs, stretching more than a kilometre, but there’s a growing number of cool cafes and fitness studios in the area.
The latest addition putting the ‘Bra on the map is the ridiculously luxe Yogala studio. Following a rebrand, the architecturally-designed boutique just reopened in the heart of Maroubra. The natural light and plant-filled space in the Pacific Square complex is double the size of the previous space. As well as two studio rooms, there is an all timber treatment ‘snug’ – a space for personal meditation, solace and private therapies.

Yogala Director Tamara Ogilvie said that her vision for the new Yogala space was to create a sanctuary in which clients feel ‘held.’ “‘Yogala’ is a name of Finnish origin, meaning ‘space for life’,” she says. “My idea of yoga is one that applies age-old traditions to modern, everyday lives. The studio is designed to  be as grounding and balancing as possible.”
The studio will offer a mix of yin, vinyasa and flow, as well as yoga for children at teens. There are loads of exciting things happening to celebrate the relaunch. Those new to the studio will be able to enjoy their first class at Yogala for free during the month of March. They also have a range of speciality classes and workshops happening in March:
