Journeyman has been making waves in the Melbourne food scene thanks to its fresh, local produce, and seasonal menu that features good, clean, honest food, with a touch of clever cooking. But is it really worth the hype? Yes, indeed.
Formerly Dukes Coffee Roasters, the cafe has rebranded but their perfectly executed fare, cold pressed juices and famous coffee remain untouched.
Highlights on the extensive all-day (win!) menu include the divine Persian fetta potato croquette with poached eggs, sweet corn puree, crispy kale, and manchego cheese (I had to resist licking the plate), as well as the chilli scrambled eggs. The sweet offerings are equally easy on the eyes (and grumbling tummies), with the coconut chia pudding and Bircher muesli proving to be incredibly popular with locals and visitors alike. There are also a variety of options that are vegan, vegetarian, or gluten free – perfect for those with dietary requirments.
And for the coffee connoisseur, Journeyman’s baristas are touted to be among the best in world (yes, really). Whether you choose Dukes Espresso house blend, or a Single Origin brew, their cups of Joe are not to be missed. And yes, you can buy Dukes Coffee Roasters‘ Espresso Blend, along with Single Origin Roasters coffees in both Espresso and Filter roasts.
“We believe that espresso coffee should be clean, balanced, and show clarity of flavour, and this is what we deliver time after time, as a result of our commitment to quality.” – Journeymancafe.com.au
The fact that it’s also a sophisticated (and spacious) space is just another reason to visit. Designed by the internationally renowned Melbourne architect Chris Connell; the industrial style fit-out features exposed bricks and elegant timber panelling.
Whether you choose to eat and sip at the bar or communal table, Journeyman is a place you’d like to visit time and time again.
