Unfortunately we have to surrender to reality: Daylight savings has ended (so many tears) and Autumn is officially upon us. So what better time to refresh our beauty case and amp up our look?
Taking inspiration from the Autumn/Winter 16 runways I’ve selected four gorgeous beauty trends, and shared my favourite tips and tricks so you can rock these looks, too.
Autumn’s hottest beauty trends
Trend #1 Dark glamour
Deep burgundy and plum toned lipsticks are the perfect way to make a statement in the cooler months.

The key is to create a flawless base teamed with simple eyes, groomed brows, and lashings of mascara. I love to curl the lashes and use a volumising mascara, like L’Oréal Paris Miss Manga Mascara. As for vampy lipsticks, my go-to’s are Tom Ford Matte Lip Colour in Black Dahlia, MAC Cosmetics Lipstick in Diva, L’Oréal Paris Colour Riche Intense Lip Colour in Intense Plum and Charlotte Tilbury Matte Revolution Lipstick in Glastonberry.

Trend #2 A touch of shimmer
Tommy Hilfiger, Burberry and Giambattista Valli sent models down the runway with an accent of eye detail using shimmer. This is a look that is sure to turn heads for all the right reasons.

To take this look from runaway to street, apply L’Oréal Paris La Couleur in 002 Hourglass Beige in the inner corner of your eyes. This is will have an amazing brightening and eye-opening effect. Then, use a highlighter to accentuate under your brow bone and on the tops of your cheek bones. My favourite is MAC Cosmetics Mineralise Skinfinish in Soft and Gentle.

Trend #3 Smokey eyes
A sexy smokey eye never goes out of style and Versace, Moschino and Roberto Cavalli all seem to agree, sending their models down the runaway with smouldering looks.

Armed with just a black kohl pencil you can create an instant ultra-glam night time look. Simple line the upper and lower water lines with your liner. I like to use MAC Cosmetics Eye Kohl in Smoulder or L’Oréal Paris Colour Riche Le Kohl in Midnight Black. Enhance the smokey-ness by using a soft blending brush to smoke up and diffuse any harsh lines.

Trend #4 The nonchalant do
The “I woke up like this” hair is all about natural texture and undone waves, with the option to randomly add mini plaits for a more whimsical and bohemian feel.

Prep hair with Tresemme Waves Creating Sea Foam. Wrap sporadic strands of hair around the GHD Classic Wand, holding the ends and lightly spray with Tresemme Ultra Brushable Hairspray. Once hair is cool run your fingers through your strands for an easy, effortless look.
