Here Are the Sustainability Resolutions We Should Be Following This Earth Month

Make the switch now.

Every year we all make promises to start the year off as a better version of ourselves. The most common resolutions are to lose weight or learn a new hobby, but why not do something a little different this year and opt for some eco-friendly options instead. To be perfectly honest and frank, climate change is a problem that isn’t going away, and there’s never been a more important time than the present to think consciously about how we’re affecting the planet.

This Earth Month, we should take the time to make switches that can help save our planet. There’s a lot that we can do to become more sustainable and it starts with making little changes that can impact our world because let’s face it, no one is doing it for us, including the companies that are the biggest polluters of this planet. Companies are popping up everywhere that help us provide easy and accessible options for sustainable products. These companies opt for biodegradable packaging and/or recycle packaging, minimal plastic, and a lower carbon footprint. So if you’re not in the market for a new car that’s completely electric, here are five promises and resolutions that we can make so that we can ensure we do our part in furthering our environment a better place. Here Are the Sustainability Resolutions We Should Be Following This Earth Month

1) Make The Switch to a Bamboo Toothbrush

One billion toothbrushes will be thrown away in Australia this year, most of the plastic. Make the switch to a bamboo toothbrush, the Thinc Eco Biodegradable Bamboo Toothbrush makes it easy to go eco-friendly, as they are affordable, stylish, and offer the perfect bristle strength. Once you’re finished with the toothbrush, simply snap off the bristles to put in general waste, and dispose of
the bamboo end in your home compost bin. This is a great and easy solution that you can make and follow through on. Plus, it’ll help your oral health too!

2) Drive less

Driving your car less is such an easy resolution that requires no money and is a great way to reduce your carbon footprint. Next time you need to go to the supermarket, why not take your bike or walk, you will be helping both your mental health and the environment. If you live in a city or town where this is not possible, we totally understand. But if you’re in a city where public transportation and bike lanes are accessible, try to limit the amount of time you spend in a car. Plus, the bus is so much fun to ride!

3) Shop at Bulk Food Stores

Bulk food stores are a great way to reduce your plastic intake. Not only is it economical, but it’s also an eco-friendly option for a lower waste lifestyle. If you are wanting to do something to help the planet in the new year then this is an easy option. It’s also much cheaper to buy in bulk. For a zero-waste shopping trip bring along your own jars and produce bags. Thinc Eco sells organic cotton produce bags that will make the trip to the bulk food store that little bit easier.

4) Meat Free Mondays

If you are wanting to reduce your environmental impact, eating vegetarianism is one of the simplest and cheapest things that anyone can do. Eating vegetarian doesn’t have to be boring, there are so many amazing vegetarian recipes out there that don’t miss out on all the flavors of meat meals. Start off the New Year with Meat Free Mondays, you might be pleasantly surprised at how much you enjoy it. What vegetarian foods do you enjoy? Have you tried any meat alternatives that stand out to you? We enjoy tofu, soy chorizo, seitan, and other products that are oh so yummy and can easily replace a meaty taste. If not, brands like Impossible Foods are making replacements that are crazy good.

5) Resell and donate items

Think twice before buying or throwing out old clothes. Try selling your unwanted items at a local market or donating them to a charity organization. Remember, one person’s trash is another one’s treasure. Plus, vintage clothing is so in. You can find some really incredible clothing for a much cheaper price, even some fashion designers that some may otherwise not be able to afford. Try Goodwill, local thrift stores in your area, and more!
