We think we speak on behalf of most when we say, we LOVE to know what’s inside people’s fridges! Just like we love knowing what people eat for breakfast, their go-to coffee order, favourite smoothie ingredients—call us nosy, but we truly believe there is something to learn from everyone. And we think you’d agree, which is why we’ve come up with a brand new series called “Dishing with Amodrn” that we’re sure you’ll love.
How it works is that we get Amodrn friends to share with us the food items you’ll find in their kitchen and what their daily diet consists of—no details spared. If there’s chocolate, you’ll see it. A tub ice-cream? It’ll be there. Because one thing we’re really trying to shine light on is ‘keeping it real’. At the end of the day, we’re all human—and as much as we live and breathe a healthy lifestyle here at Amodrn, we, like everyone else won’t say no to a glass of vino (or two) every now and then.
First up is LA-based fashion, travel and lifestyle blogger, Kat Tanita (@kattanita) from With Love From Kat.
Known for her passion for wellness, her food philosophy is this: she follows the 80/20 rule of eating, she’s not afraid of carbs and opts for organic fruit and vegetables when possible. She’s also written a cookbook which is launching next year, featuring 100 of her favourite sugar, dairy and gluten-free recipes.
Keep on scrolling as Kat gives us a sneak peek of what’s inside her fridge and be sure to head over to our IG page @sporteluxe as she shares with us a video of how she makes her gut-friendly green juice!

First thing in the am, what is your go-to wellness food/drink you consume?

First thing when I wake up, I have hot water with lemon. Then I make myself a green juice with fennel, broccoli, cucumber, celery, and romaine or sprouts.

What is the weirdest thing in the name of wellness that you have consumed?

Hmmm, psyllium husk with water and olive oil to flush out my colon before a colonic—seriously it’s so gross haha but it works.

If you could pick 3 foods to eat for the rest of your life, what would they be?

White sticky rice, wild salmon and zucchini.

What food habits do most people not know about you?

I’m not afraid of carbs. I don’t believe in depriving myself! I follow the 80/20 lifestyle. I am particular about some things like… I only eat organic fruits and veggies and wild caught fish (never farm raised). I try to avoid refined sugar and instead opt for things sweetened with coconut sugar and maple syrup.

What is your spirit vegetable?

Ohhh my spirit vegetable?! Hmmm coconut for sure because it can be used in sweet and savory dishes and is extremely versatile and adaptable! It’s nourishing and a comfort food and has been around forever!  Who doesn’t love coconut?!

If I looked in your fridge now, what’s the first thing that I will see. And be honest…

GREENS! All of my veggies for my green juice and then a stash of dark chocolate and champagne in my fridge door.

Name your No. 1 must-have in your kitchen.

My instant pot—that thing helps me whip together full blown meals in 15 minutes. I can’t live without it!

Fav healthy beverage?

Matcha with coconut milk.

Go-to guilty pleasure?

Truffle pasta from Da Ivo in Italy, gelato, or a dirty martini from L’Artusi in NYC.

Bedtime snack?

A piece of Nohmad co. dark chocolate or popcorn with pink sea salt!
