The only thing better than three Cali Press stores is four so it’s a good thing that the popular juice bar opened a shop in Double Bay over the weekend.
Joining the health mecca at Kiaora Place, the Californian-inspired juice-bar-cum-health-café is right at home nestled between Bake Bar and Naked Foods, and opposite About Life. With its signature white tiles and sky blue trimming that speak to its beach-side roots, it is a beacon between two dark facades.
True to form, customers are greeted by a rainbow wall of juices and trio of friendly staff. Choose to sit outside on timber stools or watch the day go by from the long bench seat window.
On the menu you’ll find the usual Cali Press culprits: a long list of smoothies (taken in a cup or bowl), a selection of mixed salads with the option to add egg, poached chicken or quinoa, and all day breakfast foods including chia pots, bircher muesli and avocado on toast. When it comes to caffeine, they’re serving up Allpress Espresso along with dandelion and matcha lattes, and Ovvio Organic Tea.
On the sweeter side, you can treat yourself to a sweet potato brownie, apricot granola bar, or salted maple bliss ball – minus the side of guilt of course, as everything on offer is free from dairy, gluten and refined sugar. At Cali Press, being healthy is never boring; banana bread is served with roasted macadamia butter, kim chi and ‘superkraut’ are optional extras and salad dressings are a far cry from olive oil and lemon – think miso and tahini, and tumeric, dates and dijon.
If you’re on the go, grab any of the items on the menu as a takeaway from the cabinet and fridge or pick up your meals for the whole day, starting with an algae shot or fireball tonic to kick start the system.
Opening in Surry Hills only weeks ago, Cali Press shows no sign of slowing down, as they spread their cold-pressed culture all over Sydney.
