Use a toothbrush to create a boho braid
If you’re all about sexy, bedhead hair (who isn’t?!), after you’ve braided your strands into a plait, take a clean toothbrush and gently brush the bristles upward. This will create an instantly textured finish.
Apply highlighter before foundation
You might think that applying highlighter before foundation defeats its purpose, but in fact, it creates that natural “lit from within” glow that we all desperately want, according to celebrity makeup artist Kate Lee. Not convinced? She used this technique on Rosie Huntington-Whiteley for the Vanity Fair’s Oscars Party—enough said!
Use a matte liquid lipstick as eyeliner
Want to create a colourful wing, but can’t find the right gel or liquid liner? Use a matte liquid lipstick like makeup artist, Lorena Sanchez. Simply deposit a bit of the product on the back of your hand, then use an angled brush to paint on your flick.
Multimask
As its name suggests, multimasking is all about using numerous masks on different parts of their face to achieve better skin. Have breakouts just on your chin? Apply an acne-fighting mask there. Dry cheeks? Apply a hydrating mask there. And so on.
Apply two shades of blush
When it comes to blush, celebrity makeup artist and entrepreneur, Charlotte Tilbury swears by two different shades to enliven skin and give an innate glow. Swish a warmer peach shade across the cheekbones to sculpt, then dab a lighter pink on the apples of your cheek for a pretty, youthful glow.
Keep your beauty blender in an egg cup
If you look in any beauty gurus kit, it’s almost guaranteed you will find a BeautyBlender. However, this genius tool can soak up product, bacteria and dirt, and if not cleaned correctly or stored properly, can lead to major breakouts. Enter: The egg cup. It’s an easy and cheap storage solution that helps keep your sponge super sanitary.
Try the underwater foundation method
One way to make sure your makeup lasts all day and looks flawless is to dust your face with loose setting powder and then plunge your face in ice cold water after applying foundation. It sounds odd, but it actually works, according to Australian makeup artist and beauty blogger, Nikkia Joy. It’s known as jamsu makeup or the underwater foundation method and it’s incredibly popular in Korea.
