Over the last year or so, there’s been a few interesting attempts to coax non-bendy types into trying yoga. First, there was goat yoga (sure, whatever you’re into), then beer yoga (getting closer), then wine yoga (where do we sign up?!) But the latest adaptation is one we’re sure even ‘Namaste in Bed’ types will be able to get behind. Introducing, puppy yoga!
Thanks to the folks at Brisbane’s Stretch Yoga, you can now get your ‘om’ on while surrounded by adorable puppers. For regulars at the studio, getting their Downward-facing dog on with an actual dog is nothing new — as owner Elise Danielle’s pooch Sir Winston McDougall often makes guest appearances during the classes.
But to celebrate their third birthday on 23rd July, the studio are opening up a series of puppy yoga and Pilates classes up to the public! And that’s not even the best part. The studio have partnered with the RSPCA for the event — so if you find a pooch you really vibe with, you can take it home with you! Yep, all of the dogs are up for adoption.
The 45-minute classes are $50 each, but all of the proceeds go to the RSPCA. So, if even if you don’t have the time or space to take home a furry friend, you’ll still be helping out. There will also be a couple of non-puppy related but still (almost) as exciting charity events on the day, like a handstand workshop and yoga for anxiety.
Bookings are at essential, and the time of writing, there’s only a few slots left for the puppy yoga and Pilates classes — so get in quick if you want to downward dog with an ACTUAL dog. Click here to find out more and RSVP.
