People report using manifestation techniques to make their dreams come true. They manifest a career change, house purchase or relationship, and say that the practice of manifestation has changed their lives forever.
But what actually is it, and how the heck do you start?
Kelsey Aida describes it like this: “Manifestation (noun) is something you bring forth into your physical life experience through past thoughts, feelings, or beliefs.”
Basically, by consciously choosing a certain way of thinking, we have the ability to shape both our subconscious and our conscious mind. That is, the way we interpret and experience the world.
Manifestation dictates that you can make anything happen, with the right energy and a little bit of focus.
Well knock me down and call me Shirley, where do we sign up?! Here are a few tips for getting started:
Create space
Before you begin the manifestation process, you must take the time to release your disbelief in your power and ability to create change. Spend time thinking about how to let go of all the negative blockages you have in your life, and ask the universe to guide you in this.
Gabrielle Bernstein explains that this could mean losing your job so that you can learn the lessons of self-reliance and strengthen your self love. She says “trust that these assignments, however tough at times, are incredible opportunities for you to clean your energy and clear space to call in what you desire.”
Get crystal-clear on what you really want
So, instead of trying to manifest a million dollars, focus on the feeling of financial freedom— because that is what you’re truly craving. Break it down until you’re at the core of what you want, the very bare bones. Then, get manifesting.
Spiritual junkie and wellness blogger Jordan Younger says that one big thing to remember about manifestation is that the actuality of what you’re manifesting might look different to how you picture it. For example, if you’re manifesting a house, don’t focus on the money to buy a house, but rather focus on the home itself. Because you never know how you will get it, it could be gifted to you! (Take that, Sydney property market).
Believe it before you see it
Younger says that “the more doubt you have, the more self-deprecating thoughts, and the more out of tune you are with your heart and soul and what you really need — the harder it will be for you to set intentions and manifest them into your reality.”
Feel the emotion
Feel the emotion of what it is that you want before you have it. So if you’re looking to land your dream job, focus on how incredible that would feel and picture it happening to you.
Be your own best cheerleader
Sylvia Salow argues that reality just reflects back to you your own support. She says “if you feel like the universe has forgotten you and your dreams, then look at the way you support your dreams.”
Have a little faith
So profound she named her book after it, Gabby Bernstein says that in order to manifest successfully, you have to know that the universe has your back, and put trust in it’s ability to bring you what you need.
And let’s be clear, you don’t have to sage your entire apartment or sit cross legged in silence with armfuls of crystals for hours each day in order to manifest. Simply shifting your thinking patterns and spending time getting clear on what you really want (not what you don’t already have) is the perfect starting point for a life of manifesting your dreams.
(And just while we’re here, universe, if you could maybe just think about getting me that puppy I’ve been manifesting? The one I’ve spent 22.5 hours a day dreaming of for years?) Thanks.
