Have you ever noticed that most skincare brands fit into one of three categories? There’s the natural, organic products; the super effective, scientifically-backed ones and the ones you buy simply because they come in pretty packaging and smell good! However, it’s really rare to find a skincare brand that fits into all three categories.
So, when we came across US skincare brand Ogee, we were stumped (in the best possible way.) They were impossible to put in just one category! At first glance, they looked like the kind of products you buy just because they look good in your beauty cabinet —think vibrant green packaging with rose gold accents. But on closer inspection, we discovered that the products are also about as natural as natural gets — they’re certified organic and completely free from petroleum derivatives, parabens, synthetic fragrances, formaldehyde, and GMOs. They’re also cruelty-free and the packaging is made from 100% recycled paperboard.
Then comes the science. Founders Mark Rice and brothers Alex and Abbott Stark spent more than a decade searching for the best natural ingredients with proven results for improving women’s skin. What they found was jojoba oil, which has been creating a serious buzz in the skincare world lately. Being extremely similar in molecular structure to the building blocks of the skin’s sebum, jojoba oil is fantastic for moisturising the skin while balancing its oil production.
The Ogee team sources its jojoba seeds from an organic farm in the American desert and cold presses them to deliver a ‘golden’ grade of oil that contains the highest level of antioxidants and polyphenols. Pair that with other superstar natural ingredients like edelweiss extract, kakadu plum, geranium flower essential oil and you’ve got yourself some extremely effective products.
While all of Ogee’s products are ah-mazing, there’s one, in particular, we can’t stop raving about. While you normally find jojoba in facial oil form, they’ve stepped outside the norm with their Jojoba Hydration Day Cream. Not only does it have a gorgeous whipped texture, it utilises climate adaptive hydrating technology. That is, it senses humidity levels in the environment and adjusts your skin’s moisture levels to achieve optimal hydration. So, when your skin is really thirsty it amps up the hydration, but when it’s a crazy humid day it takes it down a notch so you don’t look oily—magic!
