Had more than a few glasses of champagne on a Tuesday? Stayed up late until 2 am watching Scandal? The proof is usually in your puffy, visible under-eye bags. While copious amounts of concealer and tricks like ice or refrigerated spoons help, puffiness and dark shadows always seem to stick around like a bad smell. So, it was only a matter of time before a tightening and lifting technology surfaced.
Enter, liquid magic for under-eye bags
Olivo Lab’s Robert Langer, Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) chemical engineer and co-founder of Living Proof, is the creator of the beauty game-changer. Using new compression technology in the form of silicone-based polymers, this product promises to offer amazing results to the delicate under-eye area.
So, how does it work exactly? Firstly, an invisible base cream is applied to the skin, followed by a second cream. The second cream adheres to the base layer, creating a hard film that tightens the skin and smooths out lines. Apparently, it can be worn alone or under a layer of powder makeup. The film can be removed as a single sheet with an oil-based makeup remover.
But, that’s not all. Langer says the technology could even be used to help with other areas of the body, to reduce the appearance of cellulite and deliver drugs to help treat skin conditions such as eczema.
The downside? The technology hasn’t yet been licensed, so it may still be some time before we’re able to see if it’s worth the hype.
In the meantime, find out what’s actually causing your dark under-eye circles (and what experts say will help). And check out the concealers beauty gurus swear by.
