Kylie fan or not, the world couldn’t help but notice that the youngest of the Kardashian/Jenner clan has been mysteriously MIA for months… until now.
Finally out of hiding, Kylie Jenner took to Instagram this morning to a) confirm her pregnancy and b) announce the birth of her daughter (a name is yet to be confirmed, but we’ve placed our bets here at Amodrn HQ) with baby daddy, Travis Scott.
She began her post by apologizing to her 100+ million fans for “keeping them in the dark”. She also noted that:
My pregnancy was one I chose not to do in front of the world. I knew for myself I needed to prepare for this role of a lifetime in the most positive, stress-free and healthy way I knew how
We know what you’re thinking — Kylie SO kept her pregnancy under wraps so that she could score an exclusive, money-making deal from it. And you know what? Perhaps she did.
However, she also made a point to say that she wanted to prepare for the arrival of her baby in the most stress-free, healthiest way possible — and if that means temporarily removing herself from the limelight to do so, then so be it.
No stranger to the pressure of Hollywood, Kylie Jenner has previously spoken out about her personal struggles with growing up in the public eye and the effects this has had on her mental health and wellbeing.
What could this mean for her pregnancy? Research conducted by the University of Zurich states that, “When stressed, the human body releases hormones to handle the higher stress, such as the so-called corticotropin-releasing hormone (CRH), which results in an increase in the stress hormone cortisol. This mechanism also persists during pregnancy, and the placenta, which supplies the fetus with nutrients, can also emit stress hormone CRH. As a result, a small amount of this hormone enters the amniotic fluid and fetal metabolism.”
High levels of stress can negatively impact the physical and emotional wellbeing of the baby and mother which can lead to serious developmental issues for the unborn baby.
Other studies have concluded that mothers who were overly stressed or anxious during their pregnancy are more vulnerable to developing postnatal depression.
Yes, Kylie flew off the radar for a while there, but rest assured, every teeny tiny detail of her pregnancy was intimately documented in true Kardashian-fashion. Watch the video below to catch up on the last nine months!
