Hot Chocolate Smoothie, Kayla Itsines, breakfast recipe
Smoothies are one of our favourite things to eat (well, drink) for breakfast, especially when we’re on-the-go. Why? Smoothies are not only super simple to make, but they’re an easy way to get your daily dose of wholesome ingredients. As such, fitness guru and soon-to-be author, Kayla Itsines has shared her favourite hot chocolate smoothie recipe.

This hot chocolate smoothie is the perfect treat to whip up when you’re feeling like something that’s both sweet and warm on a cold winter’s morning. It’s easy to prepare AND tastes delicious!

Hot Chocolate Smoothie

Serves 1

Ingredients:

250ml low fat milk

2 tsp cacao powder

30g rolled oats

1⁄2 medium banana

1 tsp chia seeds

Method:

  1. Place the milk in a saucepan and heat over mediumlow heat until warmed, add the cacao powder and whisk to combine. Remove from the heat and place 80ml in the refrigerator to cool a little.
  2. Place the oats, banana, chia seeds, water and the cooled cacao milk mixture in a blender. Blend until smooth.
  3. Reheat the remaining cacao milk mixture until hot, but not boiling. Remove from the heat and stir through the smoothie mixture.
  4. Pour into a serving cup and enjoy!
