Naturally, we’re back for another round of #DishingWithAmodrn! Today we’re taking a peek inside the kitchen of ballerina, cookery writer, author and creator of Ballet Blast, Sassy Gregson-Williams, who you may know best on the ‘gram as @naturally.sassy.
From hot lemon water mornings (sensing a theme here… does anyone not drink hot water with lemon in the morning?!) to vegan cookies and ice-cream (okay, sign us up) we’re getting the full scoop on Sassy’s healthy habits and favorite food finds.
Be sure to follow along on @sporteluxe today, where Sassy’s giving us a deep-dive into her fridge, pantry and shopping staples!
First thing in the am, what is your go-to wellness food/drink you consume?
I have a hot water and lemon, followed by a big green smoothie mid-morning after training clients or completing my own workout.
What is the weirdest thing in the name of wellness that you have consumed?
A cricket flour energy bar and charcoal toast are high on my list of interesting eats!
If you could pick 3 foods to eat for the rest of your life, what would they be?
Blueberries, peas and eggs. Random, I know!
What food habits do most people not know about you?
I don’t eat before 11am on most days, this principle is the same as intermittent fasting and whilst I have no hard rules (If I’m starving I’ll eat!) having a shorter eating window has proved to be really beneficial for my cravings, digestion and energy.
What is your spirit vegetable?
A carrot! I’ve got a colourful character, adaptable to most situations and happier in a bunch.
Name your number 1 must-have in your kitchen.
Liquid aminos, it’s delicious on stir-fries and salads and can make any leftovers delicious.
Fave healthy beverage?
An ice cold green smoothie.
Go-to guilty pleasure?
The vegan cookies and cream ice-cream from Van Leeuwen’s. They have ice cream shops and trucks in LA and NYC, and their ice creams are irresistible.
Bedtime snack?
I normally have a rooibos tea before bed, and if I do have a snack it will usually be a small bowl of oatmeal or almond butter and banana.
If we looked in your fridge now, what’s the first thing that we’d see?
Lots of almond milk beverages!
