There’s no arguing with the fact that we’re spoilt for choice when it comes to awesome training facilities here in Aus, and although we’ve tried and tested our fair share of workouts, programs, studios and gyms—this is one we’re particularly excited about.
Founded in 1998 in West Hollywood, LA, Barry’s (otherwise known as Barry’s Bootcamp) is a high-intensity workout phenomenon that is said to burn an estimated 1,000 calories in one, one hour class—YEP!
Now you too can reap all the sweaty, calorie-burning, fat-blasting benefits A-listers swear by, because Barry’s is heading down under this September, kicking off in Sydney.
“The Barry’s brand and workout have become an iconic part of the fitness industry in the United States and London. Barry’s is a fitness and lifestyle brand, and we want to bring that unique experience to Australia,” says Barry’s Australia Head of Operations, Heston Russell.
Renowned for its global, cult-like following and a favourite amongst celebs like Kim Kardashian and Jessica Biel (as well as top athletes all around the world), the Barry’s program is designed to enhance muscle tone, promote fat burn and encourage a spike in metabolism for up to 48 hours post workout.
It combines 25 minutes of interval-based cardio routines on treadmills, with a further 25 minutes of strength and conditioning using free weights and resistance bands before ending with a 5 minute cool-down.
The high-energy classes are coupled with a killer playlist and nightclub-like mood lighting in the signature Red Room to help you get in the zone.
The contemporary design of each studio will feature its own edition of athleisure and performance sportswear, while men’s and women’s changeroom facilities will be stocked with luxe grooming products for easier gym-to-street transitioning.
Not only that, Barry’s Australia will boast its own Fuel Bar concept, serving bespoke, locally-designed and nutritionally-approved shakes and smoothies.
“The Barry’s model is based on delivering an unrivalled fitness product paired with a concierge-style client experience,” says Russell. “From the time the client arrives in studio to when they’re ready to leave, we’ve accounted for every step of their visit to ensure a seamless and enjoyable experience.”
Studios will open across Sydney from September 2018 in Surry Hills, CBD and a further central location that’s yet to be announced. It will then open its first Melbourne studio in early 2019.
Barry’s Bootcamp currently has an existing 42 locations worldwide across 18 cities including Los Angeles, New York, Milan, London, Dubai and Toronto.
