LA’s obsession with the Nike Cortez continues in a big way.
Andrea Lieberman, the celebrity stylist-turned-designer behind the high-fashion line A.L.C., has just dropped three new special edition Cortex colorways in collaboration with Nike. The results are seriously stunning, and the lifestyle-focused sneaker looks like the perfect sartorial choice for end of summer BBQs, beach dates, and last-minute vacations.
Cortez by A.L.C. “celebrates the modern woman,” much like Lieberman’s own line A.L.C.. A.L.C. has quickly become a favorite brand for women looking for cool, sexy, and unfussy styles—the look is kind of California girl-meets-New Yorker-meets-art opening. And it seems that her personal style has always brought Lieberman back to Nike’s sneaks. As she told the Los Angeles Times:
“I’ve been a Nike girl for life. I often used them in my music styling, whether it was the Cortez on Jennifer Lopez or Air Force 1s on Puffy [a.k.a. Sean Combs] back in the day. Several seasons ago, I was looking for the right shoe to style a fall A.L.C. look book, and it was one of those aha moments when I realized it was the Cortez. We’ve been using it ever since, because it seems like the perfect go-to sneaker for this modern mind-set of fashion dressing.”
All three colorways have a supple suede upper, beautiful brass hardware, snakeskin on the heel, and a unique message on the insole of each sneaker. We’re crushing on the soft black suede pair that has “Do it, Own it” hidden on the insole. Talk about inspo, right? The Cortez by A.L.C. collaboration launches exclusivity on 8.25 at ‘Nordstrom x Nike’ sneaker boutiques and Nordstrom The Grove, with a wider launch on 8.28.
