ClassPass has introduced some hit-and-miss changes since the popular platform first launched in 2013, and not all of its announcements have been met with rave reviews. At the beginning, the workout-booking app turned the studio fitness industry on its head by offering a $99 10-class pass, and then at one point, unlimited classes for the same under-$100 price-point. As users know, the unlimited offering was soon nixed, and we’re back to the original pass system. Now, ClassPass is testing the addition of health and wellness services to its current lineup of more than 8,500 boutique fitness studios and gyms. Yep, ClassPass for beauty is here.
The beauty and wellness trial kicks off this week with a select number of lucky users in New York City, where the company’s head office is also based. The test group will receive access to a variety of beauty and wellness services under their current ClassPass subscription. The pilot program will include access to massages, facials, cryotherapy, float spas, infrared saunas, acupuncture, and more treatments. The service builds on offerings already available on beauty and wellness apps in the US like StyleSeat and at-home beauty and wellness service apps such as Zen, Priv, and GlamSquad. In Australia, Glamazon is a market leader in the beauty book space.
In a press release issued today, Fritz Lanman, ClassPass CEO, says the expansion has been in the works for some time. “Expanding into wellness has been on our radar for some time,” Lanman explained. “Our users are a health-conscious group looking to discover high-quality experiences at the best possible value.”
Best of all, there’s no additional cost: Users can book beauty and wellness experiences for their regular ClassPass membership fee. If all goes to plan, hopefully, we’ll see more convenient and more affordable beauty and wellness bookings available to ClassPass members everywhere.
