There seems to be nothing that matcha can’t do. Makers of matcha claim it boasts a multitude of health-promoting properties, boosting the metabolism, calming the mood and cleansing the body. Some reports even claim it can reduce your risk of certain cancers.
So, it’s really no surprise that you can now find this antioxidant-rich superfood in everything from lemonade and lattes to face masks, smoothies, raw desserts, puddings, ice cream, cookies, donuts and salad dressing.
While matcha may have only gone mainstream in the past few years, professionally trained chef and best-selling author, Candice Kumai has been enjoying it since early childhood.
Kumai first went to Japan to be with family in kindergarten, and since, has traveled there numerous times to research for her next and most anticipated book, based on the art of Japanese wellness.
Today, she’s sharing some of her wisdom in the form a matcha coconut smoothie recipe. Loaded with fiber, antioxidants, potassium, this creamy smoothie will keep you feeling full and energized—without the jitters. And, it tastes delicious!
