Have you ever been in that situation where you’re going out to eat with friends, but one has just gone vegan, one can’t eat gluten and another is Paleo? It makes it nearly impossible and someone always ends up having to compromise (aka. order a garden salad.)
It’s a scenario that Rob Hanning is all too familiar with. After being diagnosed with a heart condition in his 30s, he adopted a Paleo diet in order to get his health back on track. Like many people with specific dietary restrictions, Rob found himself constantly Googling to find places he could buy the ingredients he needed or places he could eat out. Recognising a gap in the market, he released his app Health Hunter earlier this year.
The app makes it super easy to search for cafes and restaurants in your area that cater to your foodie needs. Whether you’re meat, gluten, dairy, FODMAP or sugar-free, the comprehensive directory has you covered. With listings across Australia, the US and Europe, it’s just as handy for when you’re looking for somewhere to dine on hols.
All of the eateries that make it onto the app must meet high quality standards and have an ethical, organic focus. “They are chosen because they have fresh, local and mostly organic fruit and veg. And places serving meat must be using ethical, grass-fed produce,” says creator Rob Hanning.
