It’s no secret that here at Amodrn, we’re a little obsessed with Anna Victoria. Not only does the US personal trainer have an enviably toned bod that’s helped her amass 1.3m followers, she actually has the fitness know-how to back it up.
But what we love most about her is that she’s a body confidence activist, often reminding her audience to embrace their so-called flaws and not to compare themselves to the unrealistic standards set by Instagram.
So, when we heard that Anna was releasing her first app, Body Love, we were all ears.
What to expect
At first glance, Body Love is a lot like many other fitness apps. There are workouts, recipes and fitness tips. But the body positivity is in the details. Firstly, the app is fully customisable to your needs and goals — as Anna understands that a one-size-fits-all approach to health and fitness doesn’t work.
Then, there’s the fact that none of the workouts are longer than 45 minutes — making them super easy to fit into your day and ensuring you don’t overdo it. Each day, Anna guides you through a different workout via interactive videos. Monday focuses on legs and glutes, then cardio and abs on Tuesday, back and arms on Wednesday, cardio and abs on Thursday, full body on Friday and cardio and abs on Saturday — but, of course, you can dial this back if you need to.
Rather than focusing on calorie counting, the food aspect of the app uses a macronutrient approach to ensure you’re fueling your body correctly. You simply put in your height, weight and activity level and it calculates the balance of macros (protein, carbs and fat) you need. It then generates a daily menu for you, filled with delicious, wholesome meals like cinnamon raisin oatmeal or turkey taco bowl.
But our favourite thing about the Body Love app is definitely the self-care aspect. It’s filled with inspiring pep talks about being kind to yourself and practising positive self-talk. It’s the perfect tool to have on hand when you’ve fallen off the health bandwagon or need to pull yourself out of a slump.
The Body Love app is $4 per week and is available for iOS here.
