I don’t know about you, but no matter how full I am after a meal, there’s always room for dessert. But, I find baking very intimidating (and I’m sure I’m not alone).
That’s why I love treats that are easy to whip up and delicious to boot, like Food Matters’ raw caramel slice. This dairy-free recipe is seriously decadent but won’t leave you with a tummy ache an hour later, and requires no baking (win!).
There are three layers to this masterpiece: A nutty base, a gooey, golden caramel layer (consisting mostly of medjool dates, coconut oil and tahini), and to top it off, there’s a rich chocolate layer.
Yes, this slice is a better option than store-bought versions since it’s free of preservatives and artificial dyes, and made with natural ingredients, but it should still be considered as a treat. So, don’t eat the whole batch in one sitting (because we know you’ve done that before).
This dessert may take a bit of planning—because you’ll have to set the different layers in the fridge—but it’s well worth the wait. Plus, it keeps well in the freezer for up to two months, so you’ll have something sweet on hand when cravings strike.
