5 ways to celebrate world yoga day

Get your downward dog on.

It’s been a year since the first official World Yoga Day on June 21st, 2015. The world embraced this special day in honour of the ancient physical, mental and spiritual practice, in correlation with our winter solstice (or summer, depending on which hemisphere you’re in). Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modih has made a concerted effort to bring global awareness to the psychological and physical benefits of yoga, with the United Nations on board and supportive of the peaceful initiative.
This year marks the second annual event, and Aussies, much like the rest of the world, are gearing up in celebration of this inspiring day, with events all over Australia from the steps of the Opera House to the sandy shores of Bondi Beach. Team Amodrn is all too excited to share the five top ways to celebrate this coming Tuesday 21st June.

“Let us see the benefits of this practice in terms of individual well-being as well as our collective efforts to improve public health, promote peaceful relations and usher in a life of dignity for all, “ United Nations Secretary – General Ban Ki-moon via worldyogaday.com.au

If you simply can’t make it to the steps or the studio, or are still a little shy and trying to figure out your cat from your cobra, then stay at home and do a little in-house session.  Why not try one of our favourite yoga apps, or maybe even try Bianca Cheah’s favourite Vinyasa Flow sequence.
