We interviewed Jen to get more on the story. Keep reading below for more!
1) How has your career led you to create this brand?
I spent a few years as a consultant curating experiences in the hospitality industry and I quickly noticed that while traveling, everyone wants to seek moments of wellness and respite but have a hard time sticking to them. Late night drinks led to canceled yoga classes the next morning and a bar right in their lobby was too convenient to pass up. I was seeing similar patterns in my own life. With connection and socializing being synonymous with the bar, the next day’s wellness rituals would get shut down.
I was introduced to my co-founder Matt Cauble, and we instantly knew we wanted to create a new category to revelry that hadn’t yet existed – something that could provide those seeking social experiences or a night off from drinking a way to relax, create deeper and more genuine connections, bring people together in celebration without having to lose valuable time to side effects the next day. Kin launched in 2018 with a beverage that was designed to enhance the social experience at the bar and beyond.
2) How did you get the idea for Kin Euphorics?
I had been thinking about the concept while studying transcendental meditation, nutrition, and Ayurveda. The idea for the Euphorics category is rooted in the word “Euphoros” which quite literally means to “bear well.” We quickly knew we wanted to offer beverages, like High Rhode and Kin Spritz, specifically designed to be sipped socially, in a format that was familiar, with ingredients that provide immediate, uplifting effects on the brain and body.
Similarly, Our newest product Dream Light was crafted to ease the body and mind to provide a moment of self-reflection and restoration before bedtime and welcome a productive morning after.
3) How does Kin Euphorics work? Tell us about the science behind it.
Our products house a blend of blending adaptogens (herbs that help the body adapt to stress), nootropics (compounds that help enhance cognition), and botanicals (plants that balance flavor and function) that together, lift the mind and relax the body so we can more consciously connect with others. In Dream Light, Kin Euphorics’ newest addition, the ingredients help ease the mind into a state of rest, balance the body’s response to stress, and support GABA and serotonin. Dream Light also uses a .25mg microdose of melatonin and which signals the brain to start the sleep cycle by facilitating the production of your body’s own melatonin.
4) What is some of the best advice you have for us?
You’ll get more opinions than encouragement when you launch something new. Know who you are and stick to it, vet advisors before listening to them, and above all: stay focused.
5) How did you overcome any challenges you’ve faced in your career? What’s your advice on picking yourself back up?
Prayer and meditation. When I can connect with my inner guidance system I can navigate myself out of a rut pretty squarely. Getting clear is important to me during times of doubt. So clean eating and drinking, consistently good sleep and a strong social network is key.
6) What is next for the brand?
Kin’s vision is to reinvent the future of revelry and foster conscious connection. Our goal is to build products that propel stronger connections with oneself, others, and the world. So stay tuned for more from us down the line!
