Sydney-Based Yogi, Caroline Groth Welcomes Us Into Her Kitchen

It's so well-organised!

Caroline Groth

We don’t know about you, but the Dishing with Amodrn series has really inspired us to rethink what’s in our kitchen (and reorganise our pantries!). We love seeing all the different produce that line the fridge shelves of our some of our favourite fit friends, and next up is Sydney-based yogi, Caroline Groth.
Over the years, Caroline has really had to work on her healthy relationship with food, but is now in a place where she is able to enjoy a balanced diet (broccoli in one hand, hot chips in the other).
Read on for our exclusive Q&A, and don’t miss Caroline’s IG takeover on @sporteluxe this week for an even deeper #nofilter peek behind-the-scenes!

First thing in the am, what is your go-to wellness food/drink you consume?

It depends on how my body feels, but normally I do a tonic of Gut Relief from Nutrition Care, Glow Inner Beauty Powder from The Beauty Chef, Happy Bean from My Tribe Type, and Vital All-In-One from Vital Everyday mixed with water.

What is the weirdest thing in the name of wellness that you have consumed?

I take this tonic from my naturopath that helps with bowel movements and it literally tastes like blended fish-brains, because the herbs are so potent. It’s not very nice at all, but it really works, so I’ll put up with it.

If you could pick 3 foods to eat for the rest of your life, what would they be?

Avocado, broccoli and chocolate.

What food habits do most people not know about you?

I dealt with disordered eating for many years. At my worst, I was only 37 kgs. Now I try to live a balanced life without any restrictions but try to eat intuitively. However, I’m utterly obsessed with broccoli, which I actually hated as a kid. I don’t just mean a little bit obsessed, but a lot. I probably eat about 1.5 kg of broccoli a week. It’s a sad day if I don’t get to have my steamed broccoli.

What is your spirit vegetable?

A red onion: fiery and strong on the outside, but peeling off my layers to continue to find and develop the true me, my soul.

Name your No. 1 must-have in your kitchen.

Avocado! It’s so versatile. Can be smeared on a piece of toast or just be eaten with some salt and pepper as a snack. It’s got great fats and vitamins. Winner!

Fav healthy beverage?

Freshly squeezed beetroot juice with lemon.

Go-to guilty pleasure?

Chocolate or hot chips. I love hot chips!

Bedtime snack?

We try to have fruit after dinner if we have a sweet tooth. Or some nuts and dark chocolate. And a cup of tea with hot milk and honey.

If we looked inside your fridge now, what’s the first thing that I will see. And be honest…

BROCCOLI!
